Headway was founded in 2015 under the name NEABPD Australia and is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for those impacted by Personality Disorders.

The way personality disorder is diagnosed is changing. The ICD-11, the World Health Organisation’s global diagnostic system, has recently moved away from the ten categories of personality disorder (e.g., borderline, avoidant, narcissistic) and adopted a single personality disorder diagnosis. In this webinar, I’ll share why this change matters, both from my perspective as someone with lived experience of BPD and through my research in clinical psychology. I’ll explain why the old categories can feel limiting and stigmatising, and how the dimensional model, based on severity and personality traits, offers a more accurate, flexible, and hopeful way forward. We’ll also discuss what this shift means for people with lived experience, their families, and the wider community.
